Welcome to J'EATOUT support. This page covers basic app usage, troubleshooting, and frequently asked questions.

Quick Start

1. Add restaurants/places from the Places list or Check-in map.
2. Create ratings and add optional photos/notes.
3. Use Wishlist to save places you want to try and turn on notifications for Wishlist items.
4. Use Quests to group places and rank them in order.
5. Use Shared Reviews to export or share selected reviews.

Basic App Usage

Check-in and Nearby Places

• Open Check-in to view nearby places on the map.
• Allow location permission for accurate nearby results.
• Tap map pins or search by text to find places faster.

Ratings and Reviews

• Create a rating from Reviews.
• Add details such as score, notes, date, and optional image.
• Tap the microphone icon next to any comment or notes field to dictate instead of typing. Audio is sent to your device's built-in speech recognizer (Apple on iOS, Google on Android) and only the transcribed text is saved.
• Edit or delete ratings anytime from rating detail/edit screens.

Wishlist and Quests

• Use Wishlist for places you plan to visit later and turn on notifications for Wishlist items.
• Use Quests to build a ranked list (for example: Best Pizza Spots).

Troubleshooting

Location/Map Issues

• If nearby places are not showing, confirm location permission is enabled.
• If map tiles do not load, check internet connection and retry.

Photos/Camera Issues

• Make sure camera and photo library permissions are granted.
• If photo attach fails, close and reopen the app, then try again.

Voice Dictation Issues

• Grant microphone and speech recognition permissions the first time you tap the mic icon. If you denied them, enable them in your device Settings under Jeatout.
• If nothing is transcribed, check that your device is not muted and try speaking closer to the microphone.
• On-device speech recognition requires a supported OS version (iOS 13+ / recent Android). Older devices may fall back to network-based recognition and need internet access.

Notifications

• Enable notifications in system settings and in-app preferences.
• On iOS, verify alerts are enabled in Settings → Notifications → Jeatout.

Performance and Data

• If the app feels slow, force close and reopen it.
• If a screen appears stuck, navigate back and retry the action.
• If something still looks wrong, email support with reproduction steps.

FAQ

Do I need an account?

No account is required for core app usage at this time.

Can I edit or delete my ratings later?

Yes. Ratings can be edited or deleted from the rating detail/edit flows.

Why does location permission matter?

Location is used to show nearby restaurants and improve check-in relevance.

Can I use the app without notifications?

Yes. Notifications are optional for Wishlist items Only and can be turned off in device settings.

How do I report a bug?
